Scallops on Scallops with Society Social

When Catherine and I met in January to go over our goals for the year, and to review what is important to us as a company and brand, a theme that kept coming up was collaboration and partnership with other small, female-owned businesses. While we were sourcing everything from manufacturers to photographers and stylists for our wallpaper and textile collection launch, it was really important to us that we work with small, female-owned businesses in the US, so we were so excited when we began chatting with Roxy Te of Society Social about a possible styled shoot showcasing their new Amelia Scalloped Wicker Table and our Cornflower wallpaper!

Roxy founded Society Social, a purveyor of small but edited collections of unique furniture, in August 2011. All of Society Social’s furniture is designed in-house and built in Te’s family’s North Carolina factory, and is 100% exclusive to their company. I was first introduced to Society Social a few years ago, and was immediately drawn to the fun, feminine details that characterize their unique, customizable furniture, and am so inspired by Roxy as a business owner, designer, and mom.

Roxy and her team just launched their Spring ‘21 collection, which includes the Amelia Scalloped Wicker Table. They designed the table themselves with handcrafted scallops and a curvy cabriole leg. The mahogany wood frame is wrapped by hand with wicker, and showcases both the careful craftsmanship that goes into each piece of Society Social’s furniture, and Roxy’s talent for taking traditional silhouettes and making them new.

We love how the scallops on the Amelia table compliment the scallops on our Cornflower wallpaper, and how Roxy styled the shoot with their topiaries tied with bows in one of my favorite colors. You can shop the other pieces in the shoot- including the White Glazed Planters (also scalloped!) and the Betty Stool- on Society Social’s website- or, if you’re lucky enough to live in Charlotte, NC, you can visit them in person at their flagship store!
