Ornament Painting Class Benefiting SOME

Missed our Paint Your Own Ornament class? No worries- we recorded it for you to watch at any time! If you enjoy the class and learn something from it, we’d love it (if you’re able!) if you made a donation to SOME DC, the organization for whom the class was held.

What is SOME?

So Others May Eat (SOME) is a Washington, D.C. community based organization that provides holistic care for individuals and families in our nation's capital. From housing and medical assistance to career training, SOME has been providing crucial support since 1970.

We are thrilled to be donating all proceeds of this class to SOME and thank you for partnering with us!

Shop the Supply List

A note from Riley -

While making the supply list linked above, I had a tricky time finding the exact ornaments I typically use, as they are sold out everywhere I looked. The supplies from my Amazon storefront (acrylic paints and brushes) should work on any bisque (unglazed, unfired) ceramic ornament, papier-mache ornament, or wooden ornament. Golden Fluid Acrylics are my favorite paints to use, but any acrylic paint should work!

If you're using a papier-mache ornament or a wooden ornament, I'd recommend coating it with a layer of white gesso with a foam brush before our class! If you are using a ceramic ornament, you will not need gesso.

These supplies will NOT work on glass ornaments- you need a special type of paint for glass ornaments, as normal acrylic paints will peel off of glass.

Finally, please keep in mind that you do not need to purchase everything on the list! All you need is an ornament (either bisque ceramic, papier-mache, or wood), paint brushes, and acrylic paint.
